WILDLIFE BIRDS OIL PAINTING! Open to EVERYONE - you do not have to be a Veteran! Everyone welcome!
Six-week, hands-on comprehensive and progressive workshop in Wild Birds Oil Painting. Consecutive Saturdays, 11:30 am to 3:30 pm, starting March 28, 2026 to May 25, 2026. Additionally, two bonus Art Shows of participants work will be held at the VFW in May in honor of Memorial Day. Taught by Deborah Kelroy, BA Studio Art FLC.
This method of painting requires no drawing skills, no prior painting experience, and allows even the complete beginner to finish a fantastic original oil painting on their very first session! Participants are amazed as they see improvement with each session and every painting. Step-by-step, we paint beautiful EAGLES, EGRETS, BLUE AND GOLD MC CAWS, AND MORE, as well as several styles of leaves, foliage, and vines—EVERYTHING a bird wildlife artist needs to know how to paint luscious, eye-catching bird portraits! Grants are available for Veterans and spouses of Veterans (no application or qualifying necessary—just ask!), all materials/supplies, instruction provided. Culminates in two bonus art show/exhibits for students at the VFW (Sunday, May 17th Veterans Benefit Breakfast 9-11 am, and VFW Memorial Day Open House, Monday, May 25th, 12 pm to 3 pm) Additionally, students' best painting will be displayed at the Durango Public Library.
