Join us for Wild About Harry! — the Truman Library Institute's premier annual gala and the Kansas City region's most celebrated evening in support of democracy, civic education, and the enduring legacy of Harry S. Truman. Now in its 27th year, Wild About Harry has raised more than $10 million to advance the Harry S. Truman Presidential Library & Museum — our region's essential Classroom for Democracy — and the nationally acclaimed civics education programs that inspire nearly 20,000 students each year.
This year's evening features a very special honoree and keynote conversation:
David M. Rubenstein — co-founder and co-chair of The Carlyle Group, bestselling author, Presidential Medal of Freedom recipient, original signer of The Giving Pledge, and principal owner of the Baltimore Orioles — will receive the 2026 Harry S. Truman Legacy of Leadership Award in recognition of his extraordinary commitment to patriotic philanthropy and the stewardship of American history.
David Rubenstein will be joined onstage by Douglas Brinkley — CNN Presidential Historian, Katherine Tsanoff Brown Chair in Humanities and Professor of History at Rice University, contributing editor at Vanity Fair, and New York Times bestselling author — for an exclusive, in-conversation program you won't want to miss.
Two hundred fifty years after this nation declared its independence, Wild About Harry is more than a gala. It's a call to action — a reminder that democracy is not inherited, it's upheld. Every ticket purchased and every sponsorship secured helps open the doors of the Truman Library for the next generation of citizens and leaders. We are the founders of America's next 250 years.
