About this Event
WID San Diego is kicking off a three-part learning series! Our first event will help us reconnect with the warfighter mission and remind us why what we do really matters. It's easy to forget how much of an impact our work has, so this session will bring us back to the heart of the missions we support.
Join us at Naval Air Station North Island, Coronado, for an afternoon full of learning, fun and connecting to the mission.
Agenda
12:30 - Arrive in parking lot outside of main gate
1:00 - 2:00 pm - Command Briefing
2:00 - 3:00 pm - Squadron Tour
3:30 - 5:30 pm - I-Bar no-host networking
--
We will kick things off with a Naval Air Forces Headquarters tour and Naval Aviation command brief. Learn about Naval Aviation history and how our forces are employed around the world.
Afterward, we will head to Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 23 (the "Wildcards"), an expeditionary MH-60S Sea Hawk and MQ-8B Fire Scout helicopter squadron that supports deployed Pacific Fleet warships, for a tour of the hanger and enjoy climbing in a helo replica.
And finally, we will head to I-Bar (yes, the bar that inspired the bar scene in Top Gun: Maverick) to share a drink and sea stories with pilots. Visitors to I-Bar should be aware of three strict house rules, (1) remove your hat and cover, (2) no touching model airplanes, and (3) don't place your phone on the bar. Violators will be required to buy a round for everyone in the bar! (Please note, this is a no-hosted event).
Spots are limited to 50 participants. Please meet outside the gate (even if you can drive on base) - we will meet at the parking lot outside the main gate.
