Wicked VHS is a Boston-based screening series celebrating cult favorites and horror classics on VHS. With a monthly residency at The Model Cafe in Allston and occasional pop-up screenings around the city, the series is rooted in a love of physical media and the communal experience of watching movies together.In 1981, Sam Raimi released THE EVIL DEAD. The plot was simple: while on a weekend getaway at a cabin in the woods, a group of friends unwittingly unleash demons by reading from the "Book of the Dead." Unsuspecting audiences were terrified beyond their weirdest nightmares, and loved every excruciating minute.
Six years later, we return to that same cabin in EVIL DEAD II. This time, Raimi raises the bar for gore while wielding every camera trick and special effect in his arsenal. With this devilishly entertaining spoof/sequel, the director pens a cinematic love letter to horror and B-movies, and signs it in blood...lots of blood.
