As part of the 54th Annual Wichita Jazz Festival, the incredible Stan Kessler Quartet takes the stage at Walker's Jazz Lounge for an unforgettable night of world-class jazz.

Leading the charge is Kansas City trumpet master Stan Kessler — a dynamic trumpet and flugelhorn player, educator, bandleader, and arranger whose career spans decades of musical excellence. Known for his powerful tone and deep musical storytelling, Stan has led beloved groups including The Sons of Brasil and the Stan Kessler Quartet/Trio/Duo, recorded numerous albums, and spent more than two decades shaping young musicians through his work at UMKC and Kansas City jazz education programs.
Joining him is an all-star lineup of top-tier musicians:
🎶 Jeff Harshbarger – Bass
An internationally respected bassist who has performed with legends like Aretha Franklin, Branford Marsalis, Jimmy Heath, and Doc Severinsen. Jeff is also a Kennedy Center Betty Carter Fellow and a driving force in Kansas City’s creative jazz scene.
🥁 John Kizilarmut – Drums & Percussion
A versatile percussionist, composer, and educator who has performed with a remarkable range of artists including Clark Terry, New York Voices, and many others across the jazz and classical worlds.
🎹 Brant Jester – Piano
A standout pianist from the Kansas City scene, Brant has performed with artists like Bobby Watson and Lynn Seaton, and is known for his expressive playing, inventive arrangements, and deep jazz roots.
🔥 Expect blazing trumpet lines, deep grooves, rich harmonies, and the kind of musical chemistry you can feel in the room. In the intimate setting of Walker’s Jazz Lounge, every solo, every groove, and every moment lands right where it should.
