About this Event
Join us with local author and historian, Kevin M. Schultz who is currently Chair of the Department of History at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC). He will discuss his most recent book, Why Everyone Hates White Liberals (Including White Liberals): A History, which began out of his frustration at witnessing the depth of America's polarized politics. His quest to understand where the middle of American politics had gone, how the politics of rage has seemed to take over, and where we might go from here resulted in this book, whose findings surprised even him. He will present a history liberalism and propose several potential paths forward. His previous books concern twentieth-century American politics and culture, including Tri-Faith America: How Postwar Catholics and Jews Forced America to Live up to its Protestant Promise and Buckley & Mailer: The Difficult Friendship that Shaped a the Sixties.
