About this Event
In anticipation of the two hundred and one anniversary of the African Meeting House, the Museum of African American History (MAAH) invites the Nantucket community to participate in a series of facilitated community conversations centered on truth, justice, and healing. These restorative gatherings will acknowledge the lingering impacts of the 2018 vandalism, honor the enduring legacy of the African Meeting House and the historic New Guinea community, and create space for shared reflection, learning, and repair. The series will conclude in a Juneteenth 2026 community celebration featuring a shared vision for the African Meeting House’s future.
Through listening and reflection, we will begin to discuss the impact of that moment and hold space for community care, accountability, and healing. This is the first of a three-part series. All are welcome to attend and be part of this important conversation.
