About this Event
In 1994, to honor newly elected President Nelson Mandela, Whitney Houston performed three concerts in South Africa to an audience of over 200,000, becoming the first major musician to visit the newly unified, post-apartheid nation.
One of these concerts, live from Johannesburg, was broadcast on HBO and widely seen. However, the other concerts have remained unreleased—until now! On Wednesday, October 23rd, we will celebrate the 30th anniversary with the first-ever theatrical release of the amazing show from Durban.
I'm calling all my fellow DMV Whitney Houston fans to join me in celebrating this event! I'm hosting a gathering on Wednesday, October 23rd, starting at 6 PM with a happy hour at San Antonio Bar & Grill (200 Hoffman St. Alexandria, VA). Then, at 8 PM, we'll watch the new movie together next door at AMC Hoffman 22.
If you're interested, please register on Eventbrite to help us get an accurate headcount for happy hour, and purchase your movie ticket for the 8 PM show at WhitneySouthAfrica.com. (Note: the Eventbrite registration does not include a movie ticket.)
Come out, wear your Whitney shirts, and let's celebrate the Voice together!
