We’re counting down to the 2026 Whitewater Whirl. With less than four weeks to go, weekend registrations are running ahead of where they were this time in 2025, so we’re expecting a good turnout and four contra lines. Register at https://www.footmad.org/whirl-registration Louisville-based Hot Coffee Breakdown is one of the most popular bands on the contra dance weekend circuit. Tom Cunningham’s fiery fiddle combines with the driving rhythms of Kate Sanders on keyboard and Luis de Leon on percussion and harmonica.
The Hollertones--Paul Brown on banjo, Linda Scutt on fiddle, Jeanie Thieken on guitar and vocals and Nick Weiland on bass—will make their Whirl debut. Their blend of traditional, old time and Celtic music has made them popular at contra dances throughout the Midwest and East Coast.
Caller Darlene Underwood will be joined by Bob Isaacs, choreographer of so many creative dances. Gaye Fifer will be back with Wayne to teach the Beyond the Basics waltz workshop. Polly Whittaker will play her music mixes for the Saturday night DJ contra with Darlene and Bob calling. Sound maestro Hanno Meingast will be making the music in the hall sound great.

Cabin accommodation (metal frame bunk beds) or camping onsite is included in the weekend price.
The camp will open on Thursday night, April 30, for early arrivals. Consider staying Sunday night, May 3, hiking or rafting in the New River Gorge.
