Discover Sailing at Whitefriars Sailing Club – Open Day, Saturday 9th May!Whether you’re an adult looking to try something new, a family seeking an outdoor activity, or a young person curious about sailing, our Open Day is for you. Everyone is welcome — complete beginners included.
Come and enjoy a free visit by our lake. Try sailing, meet our members, and explore what our club has to offer.
⛵️Try Sailing
Our experienced volunteer helms will take visitors of all ages out in safe, stable club boats. We provide buoyancy aids; just bring clothes you don’t mind getting a little wet.
💬 Meet the Club
Chat with members, explore the clubhouse and lakeside facilities, and discover the full range of activities available for adults, juniors, and families. We’ll have information about all our groups, training, and opportunities.
🌟 Opportunities at Whitefriars include:
• Adults: Learn to sail, join social sailing, take part in racing, or enjoy relaxed time on the water
• Juniors (8–18): Learn to sail, join fun events, and try racing
• RYA Training: Beginner, improver, and advanced courses
• Racing: Sundays and summer Wednesday evenings
• Recreational Sailing & Paddling: Enjoy the lake by boat, paddleboard, or canoe
• Inclusive Sailing: Whitefriars facilities and activities are accessible. For those who need more support to get on the water we have a thriving Sailability group.
• Women on Water: Regular coached sessions and social sailing
• Radio‑Controlled Sailing: Friendly racing and training for all levels
• Active Fleets: Including National 12s and RS Aeros
