Class is limited in size, pre-registration is required. This course will provide an introduction to white water paddling. It will introduce students to the gear used in whitewater kayaking, including the boats, paddles and other gear necessary to be successful. Once students are comfortable with the gear the class will move forward with getting out of their boats safely (the wet exit) and then progress to the strokes used in whitewater. Students will then use the newly learned strokes to begin to handle moving water by learning such maneuvers as ferries, eddy turns and peeling out. All equipment will be provided for the class and an ACA level 4 certified whitewater instructor (Glenn Harman) will lead the course with several experienced boaters serving in assistant/safety boater roles.
