CITY OF OWENSBORO EXPANDS ALL-AMERICAN FOURTH OF JULY CELEBRATION FOR NATION’S 250TH ANNIVERSARY
The City of Owensboro is excited to announce an expanded All-American Fourth of July celebration as the community joins in honoring the nation’s 250th anniversary with a full weekend of festivities along the riverfront.
This year’s celebration will feature two nights of free, family-friendly entertainment, including the traditional Fourth of July fireworks show and a special drone show on Friday, July 3.
“We were excited for the opportunity to build on our already popular All-American Fourth of July plans and create something even bigger for this historic milestone,” said Public Events Director Tim Ross. “With the holiday falling on a Saturday, adding a drone show on Friday night just made sense. It’s going to be an exciting weekend in Owensboro!”
The All-American Fourth of July 250th Anniversary Weekend will kick off on Friday, July 3, with Friday After 5 on the downtown riverfront. The evening will feature live music from Cynthia & the End Times and Whiskey Row on the Main Stage and Last Call on the Overlook Stage, followed by a free drone show to cap off the night.
“Friday After 5 is thrilled to help kick off a weekend of celebrating our country,”said Brad Howton, Friday After 5 Executive Director, “There’s no better place to gather with friends and family than along the riverfront.”
The celebration continues on Saturday, July 4, with an evening full of activities. Guests are invited back to the riverfront for live music featuring Hall Pass and the Downtown Band. The Owensboro Convention Center will host 4th Fest, featuring inflatables, games, and family-friendly activities - all with free admission.
The weekend will conclude with Owensboro’s annual fireworks show lighting up the riverfront skyline. Fireworks will be launched from multiple locations across the city, including the downtown riverfront, Southern Little League fields, Owensboro Sportscenter/Moreland Park, and Owensboro Warehouse Leasing (former GE plant).
“The City of Owensboro is proud to host two back-to-back evenings of free, family-friendly fun as we celebrate our nation’s 250th anniversary,” said City Manager Nate Pagan. “This is a special opportunity for our community to come together, reflect, and celebrate in a big way.”
