About this Event
Where Would You Be?
without Detroit, there would be no St. Pete
Legend says that its founders, Williams and Demens, flipped a coin to see who would name the city of St. Pete. Demens won the coin toss and named it after Saint Petersburg, Russia, but Williams' consolation prize was building his landmark Detroit Hotel, whose remnants stand to this day.
Where Would You Be? is a homecoming celebration of sorts for three local proponents of the Motor City sound — each expressing a different side of it. Returning from the annual Memorial Day Weekend journey to Detroit, known as "techno mecca," they'll be bringing back with them records, influences, and experiences to share at home with the Sunshine City. From hi-tech jazz and soul to electro, backyard BBQ boogies to industrial warehouse all-nighters, functions like Freak Press to Interdimensional Transmissions, expect this night to run the full-gamut.
