In this presentation, Jessica Ashe, USOA Mrs. Maine 2026 and HR professional shares her personal journey of loss and her mission to advocate for more compassionate bereavement policies in the workplace. Through her story and professional insight, she highlights how employers can better support grieving employees, turning empathy into action and policy into meaningful change.
About the Speaker:
Jessica Ashe is the current USOA Mrs. Maine 2026, a wife, mom of 4, bonus mom of 2, and the Director of Operations for a Maine-based agency that supports adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and autism. Her platform, Light in the Dark – Grief Support and Awareness, was inspired by the loss of her oldest son, Nicholas, in 2020. Through her advocacy, Jessica works to bring greater visibility and resources to grieving families across Maine and is pushing for expanded bereavement leave for employees statewide. She believes deeply in using her story to offer hope, connection, and healing to others, proving that even in life’s darkest seasons-light can still be found.
