A world where the pressure eases, the noise quietens, and for a little while you’re free to simply be yourself.
A place where your hard work feels seen, your creativity has space, and community isn’t just a word — it’s something you can feel.
Where the impossible becomes possible, life slows down just enough for you to breathe, and music drifts through the trees.
Art sparks conversation, strangers feel like friends, and connection comes naturally — even if it’s only for a weekend.
For one weekend, that world exists.
Well… we’ve already proven that pigs can fly.
Set among the gum trees on South Australia’s very own Kangaroo Island, When Pigs Fly invites you to immerse yourself in three days of live music, art, workshops, and genuine community connection.
This free, all-ages, donation-based event celebrates the artistic and creative talent of Kangaroo Island and surrounds — a place to gather, share, and breathe a little deeper.
This year, all funds raised will be split between:

🎶 WHAT TO EXPECT
Three days of music immersion
From Friday evening through to late Sunday, Quark Community will be taking full control of The Pig Sty to bring you an island experience you won’t forget.
Sound for the weekend will be powered by Tordenheim Sound, delivering high-quality audio to match the incredible talent on offer.
🌿 THINGS TO DO & SEE AT THE PIG STY
🎤 The Pig Sty Stage
A full lineup of spectacular talent across a range of genres, running from Friday evening through till late on Sunday. Dancing is highly encouraged.
🎭 Workshops
A dedicated workshop space featuring a range of sessions — and we’re open to more.
Yoga, breathwork, circus skills, talks, movement, or something completely unexpected.
If you have a workshop to offer, get in touch and we’ll try to find you a timeslot.
🎸 Jam Stage / Outdoor Cinema
By day: a space for musicians to jam and prepare for future main-stage debuts.
By night: get cosy with popcorn and a movie under the stars.
🍟 Food
The legendary Ugly Spud Food Van will be onsite to satisfy those potato cravings.
🎨 Visual Art & Décor
Local creatives have transformed The Pig Sty with colour, texture, and a whole lot of pizazz.
🖼 The Sty Gallery
A partly open-air gallery space to wander, admire, and be inspired.
🧸 Kids Corner
Games and a chill-out space for the little ones — giving parents a chance to relax too.
🚢 GETTING THERE / TRANSPORT TIPS
To help keep costs down and make the journey as easy as possible:
• Carpooling from the mainland is strongly encouraged
• Walk-on ferry tickets are a great low-cost option
• A 10% SeaLink discount code will be available and can be applied directly via the SeaLink website
• We will be organising lift options and transport from the Penneshaw ferry terminal to the event site
More transport details and the discount code will be shared closer to the event.
⛺ WHAT TO BRING
• Swag, tent, or caravan — free camping available onsite
• Camp chair or cushion
• No alcohol will be sold — BYO and please drink responsibly
• Donations can be made via QR code, GoFundMe, or cash at the event
• Please leave pets at home
