About this Event

Abstract: What is health? The concept of health is fundamentally connected to social norms, historical and technological developments, and ideas about autonomy and agency. The concept cuts across human and non-human domains, as well as mental and physical dualisms. In this panel discussion, we reflect on how the different concepts, practices, and norms around health are viewed from different disciplinary. To that effect, our panel is composed of Sam Wilkinson (philosophy of psychiatry), Rebbeca Lynch (Medical Anthropology), and Angela Cassidy (Science and Technology Studies). This event embodies the interdisciplinary ethos of Egenis, celebrating disciplinary diversity within and beyond our centre.

Venue: Byrne House, University of Exeter (spaces limited)

Virtual: via Zoom
