On 6 August Carey will be hosting John Barclay, one of the foremost New Testament scholars in the world today. Please join us for a free public lecture, onsite at Carey Baptist College or online.
John Barclay’s monumental works on the theology of grace in Paul—originally in Paul and the Gift and then condensed in Paul and the Power of Grace—have been paradigm-shifting for scholars and pastors alike. By reading Paul’s theology of grace in light of ancient notions of gift, Barclay deepens our appreciation for and understanding of God’s grace. In this public lecture at Carey Baptist College, Barclay will explore how this vision of divine grace as gift might impact our understanding of economic relationships between humans. Don’t miss this opportunity to hear from one of the world’s foremost New Testament scholars.
John Barcay is the Lightfoot Professor of Divinity at Durham University in England. He has served as the President of the British New Testament Society. He is the former editor of the academic journal New Testament Studies (Cambridge University Press). Beyond the study, John enjoys cycling, music, and watching rugby – and is a big fan of the All Blacks!
