ZMACK! Improv Mixer & Jam @ La MesaWhat Happens Next? Discovery, play, and your next move.
You do not need to know what happens next. You just need to be willing to find out.
For this ZMACK! mixer, Curt Mabry leads a playful, all-levels improv night built around discovery: how we listen, let go, follow the offer, and find the next move when there is no script.
Curt is the founder of ZMACK! and has been performing, teaching, and directing improvisational theater for more than 35 years across different countries, cities, languages, communities, and contexts. He has worked with actors, writers, educators, corporate teams, students, and complete beginners, using improv both as an art form and as a practical way to build presence, confidence, adaptability, and connection.
This mixer will begin with a light hands-on playshop using fun, accessible improv games and short scene exercises. We will explore how discovery works onstage: how a simple action can become a scene, how a scene can reveal its own logic, and how performers can build something more authentic by noticing what is already happening instead of forcing the clever answer.
And because improv is rarely only about the stage, we will also touch lightly on how these same tools can help offstage: in uncertainty, decision-making, conversations, creative work, and the small brave act of taking the next useful step.
After the playshop, we will break into small teams, take a short prep break, and return for a relaxed jam show for each other in a supportive, low-pressure atmosphere.
This is a great night for:
• total beginners and curious first-timers
• experienced improvisers who want to play with new people
• writers, artists, trainers, teachers, and creative humans
• anyone interested in curiosity, flexibility, and discovery
• people who want to laugh, connect, and try something different
No improv experience needed. Beginners and experienced improvisers are both welcome.
Come solo. Come with a friend. Come curious. Come ready to find out what happens next.
