Join us on Zoom on July 31st @ 1 p.m. EST for YPW SWS Fellow Jacob Jing's workshop exploring dreamscapes! Anyone aged 13–22 is welcome :)
About this Event

Workshop description: In real life, dreams are fleeting and rarely memorable. Only the most unusual are able to remain in our minds, and even then, they are often incoherent. However, in literature, they hold unprecedented creative potential, allowing the writer full control over a scene that can directly shine a different light on the lived reality of the speaker; dreams permit the coexistence of two different worlds, one that is real and another that is truthful. In this workshop, we will navigate different avenues of dream creation, explore how they can help us develop literary ideas, and apply these ideas to our own lives as writers. We will be examining Richard Siken, Lydia Wei, Fiona Lu, and others. At the end of the workshop, participants will be given prompts and the time to construct their unique dreamscapes.
