Whale Of A Day at Point Vicente Interpretive CenterSaturday, April 11th, 2025, 10AM ~ 4PM
Come have fun under the sun at the annual Whale of a Day on Saturday, April 11th from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM at Point Vicente Interpretive Center. Los Serenos de Point Vicente and the City of Rancho Palos Verdes are celebrating the annual Gray Whale migration from its feeding grounds in the Bering and Chukchi Seas near Alaska to the warm breeding waters of Baja California.
The event will have games, crafts, and a myriad of activities for children such as playing in the inflatable bounce house or running through the inflatable obstacle course. They can play games such as prize fishing, and miniature bowling. If they like crafts, children can create their own whale hats, make origami whales and fish, and get their face painted. Adults like to browse through booths selling such items as jewelry and artwork, and explore the many environmental service booths. There is a story time which targets our younger guests. Don't forget to meet our local police and fire department officers and take a short tour of the large fire truck. Not to be missed is a raffle with large baskets overflowing with goodies and a silent auction brimming with prizes!
When you feel hungry or thirsty, a variety of food trucks are available. Enjoy an array of foods and beverages, including wine and beer. Leisurely eat while counting how many whales you can see, or marvel at the wonderful Whale Of A Day poster artwork submitted by the students of the Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District.
Free parking will be available at the Rancho Palos Verdes City Hall parking lot, along with free bus shuttles to and from the Whale of a Day festival. Sorry, there is no parking available at the Festival site. The festival itself is a free event, but the individual booths might have charges on their own. Rainout Day is on April 25th, 2026.
