About this Event
Do you enjoy thinking in patterns or detailed oriented projects? Then this is the class for you! Stretch your brain while learning Mad Weave, a weaving technique based on three directions with a 60° angle between weaves, rather than the standard two directions with a 90° angle. Beginner students will weave a flat 36 ribbon mat, learning how Mad Weave is constructed. Then the ends will be tucked into the back of the base creating a clean edge, with felt glued onto the back of the mat for a neat appearance. You will receive materials to make two mats, but will not finish both. Returning students will learn to turn corners with Madweave while creating a triangular basket. The basket begins with a solid color Madweave mat, then three new colors are added to construct a 36 ribbon base. Three corners are added and the remaining sides joined to the corners. An additional ribbon row is woven in to make the three sides taller. Then the spaghetti mess of all of those ribbons are woven back into the basket. Your friends will be impressed!
Prerequisite: A good night’s sleep. Bring embroidery scissors and optional tiny alligator clips (with no teeth). Students choosing the Triangular basket should bring their tweezers.
Materials Fee Included.
