Mark your calendars for WET PAINT DENVER for DENVER WALLS Festival! 👏🚊WET PAINT is a traveling art show by graffiti legends Persue and WANE ONE that captures the palpable tension between the MTA and graffiti writers in New York City. When the authorities clean up subway station graffiti by painting over it, they routinely hang a “Wet Paint” sign. Persue pulled down hundreds of these signs and sent them to artists around the world. Each artist made their sign uniquely beautiful and through these collaborations, WET PAINT: A Persue and Wane1 Artshow, was born!
WET PAINT has brought exhibitions worldwide to art capitals including New York, Philly, Tokyo, Shanghai, Miami, Atlanta, and Winnipeg. We are thrilled to add Denver to this incredible list!
This show will feature artwork on wet paint signs from 80+ local and international artists, which will be for sale to collectors at the opening, as well as artifacts of the history of graffiti. Be taken back to the early days of train writing as Persue and WANE ONE share with us what it was like to fight for this artform and share hand styles across the country and world before the days of social media.
