West Winds and Band Fusion present - Our Spirit Our Legacy

Presented by West Winds, Band of the Bukit Batok Community Club, and Band Fusion, under the baton of Music Director ME6 Philip Tng, Our Spirit, Our Legacy commemorates a significant milestone - 60 years of a vibrant and enduring band movement in Singapore.
2025 marks not only six decades of Singapore’s nationhood, but also of a musical tradition that has shaped generations of musicians, educators, and dreamers. This concert honours the passion, perseverance, and unity that have carried us through times of growth and adversity, including challenges such as the global pandemic.
Through music, personal stories, and a heartfelt tribute to SG60, we honour the spirit that continues to inspire us, and the legacy that lives on in every note we play.

About West Winds
West Winds was formed in 1993 with the support of the People’s Association and Bukit Batok Community Club. Our vision was to create a place where musicians in Singapore could gather to play band music. As a non-profit group, we rely on the generous support of our patrons and supporters to sustain the band’s outreach activities.
As a community band, West Winds is dedicated to bringing music to the community by promoting an awareness and appreciation of band music. We regularly hold free, non-ticketed concerts at our home ground, Bukit Batok Community Club. Our annual concerts have become a highlight in the local band scene calendar, often attracting mass bookings from school bands. West Winds has also collaborated with the Esplanade to stage successful sold-out themed concerts, such as “The Enchanted World of Hayao Miyazaki” in 2014, 2015, and 2025, and “Anime Megahits” in 2023.
Furthermore, we actively promote band music at the school level through our “West Winds Community Series” school outreach program. Our musicians visit schools and share their love and knowledge of music with younger musicians. The culmination of the outreach program is a joint performance by West Winds and the school band, which is open to the residents of Bukit Batok. “West Winds Community Series” offers school musicians an opportunity to perform and learn from our musicians, and underlines our desire to contribute to the local band music scene.
