Watch the sky come alive on a sunset cruise around one of the Great Lakes’ most spectacular wildlife sanctuaries.Did you know the egrets and herons that nest on West Sister Island fly an 18-mile round trip just to feed their young? On this unforgettable evening aboard the Jet Express, you’ll get a front-row seat to that incredible story.
This sunset fundraiser cruise will take you around West Sister Island National Wildlife Refuge, home to the largest Great Blue Heron and Great Egret rookery in the U.S. Great Lakes. Researchers from the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service and Ohio Department of Natural Resources will be on board to share behind-the-scenes stories about this rare, fragile, and wildly important habitat.
West Sister Island is also a designated wilderness area which means access is by permit only, and even maintenance crews can use hand tools only. In other words: this is a place few people ever get to experience… and you’ll be seeing it at golden hour from the comfort of a catamaran!
