Come share your thoughts on the West Midlands PCC's plan for a fairer and more inclusive police force.
About this Event

Police and Crime Commissioner Simon Foster is asking you to use your voice to tell him your main concerns about policing.

The information that you give us will help to develop the new Police and Crime Plan, which will set out his policing priorities, and what West Midlands Police will be delivering over the next four years. Simon Foster wants West Midlands Police to be an excellent police force, the force that you deserve and we want to ensure that those priorities are influenced by the information and feedback that you give to us. It is important that we are responding to the needs of our communties.

We are holding a series of events that are targeting particular priority areas.

Fairness and Belonging – is focused on policing and race, specifically how the black community is policed. Much has been done by policing to address racism in the police and society. Examples include a stronger focus on neighbourhood policing to bring us closer to issues affecting communities and their involvement and oversight in areas such as stop and search and use of force, a more robust independent inspection and complaints process has been introduced to scrutinise the police; there has been a much greater focus on policing being diverse and inclusive with a focus on building a more representative service. We also know that change has not been fast or significant enough. We will update you on the work taking place through the Fairness and Belonging Plan and the Police Race Action Plan

We want you to come and tell us about your experiences, and how we can work with the black community to influence change. This is part of an ongoing strategy and we want you to both tell us how it is going, and also work with us to influence change.

Your voice will help us to work towards a safer and more inclusive West Midlands. There are a number of strands to this consultation and it is running for 3 months. It ends mid October, so please fill in our Police & Crime Plan 2025-2029 public consultation.

If you have further questions about the event, please contact [email protected] or 0121 626 6060.
