Renown recording artist and saxophonist, Lazarro Nettles is pleased to bring back the West Baton Rouge Music & Heritage Festival to the community for a second time. This event which met with great success last go round will welcome an eclectic mix of musical genres to the grounds of the West Baton Rouge Museum on Saturday, July 20, 2024 from Noon – 8 PM.Come experience music diversity at its finest including Blues, Jazz, Gospel, R & B, Swamp Pop, and Southern Soul performed from the museum’s Juke Joint Stage. Food Trucks and artist vendors will be on site with items available for purchase.
Lazarro Nettles is a native born and raised in Baton Rouge, La. He grew up playing the saxophone in his Dad's church at a very young age where he began developing his own unique style of playing that contains hints of gospel tones, jazz overlays, and bluesy riffs with an edgy funk. His dynamic live performances and utter command of the saxophone have been electrifying audiences for many years with a raucous tone and dynamic stage presence. He plays regularly with musical greats from the local, state, and national level. Through these connections, he has amassed a musical line up that is sure to please including Dee Davis, Hannah PK, Kasey Ball and BJ Davidson in an electric duo known as Funktopus, Doug Brousseau and the River City All Stars, and Lori St. George to name a few.
This family friendly event is FREE and open to the public. West Baton Rouge Museum is located at 845 North Jefferson Avenue in Port Allen, just minutes away from downtown Baton Rouge.
