About this Event
The Event
We are excited to invite Wrexham residents to a discussion about medical drones in Wales. We want to hear your views and give you the opportunity to join the conversation.
Dragon’s Heart is a project looking at whether medical delivery drones could safely support NHS services across Wales, for example by moving blood, medicines, or urgent supplies between hospitals and other sites.
The long-term idea is a Welsh medical drone delivery network, designed to improve flexibility and resilience for health and social care providers — especially where distance, terrain, or overland travel times make things difficult.
Our event is a discussion about this which brings together project partners, indepedent university researchers, NHS and community representatives, and people from the local area.
The Project
The Welsh Ambulance Service Trust and the Welsh Blood Service are working closely with Snowdonia Aerospace, Volant Autonomy , SLiNK-TECH, Skyports Drone Services and the University of Birmingham. Together we have identified multiple ways drone technologies could support NHS Wales to ease bottlenecks and support current logistics.
We are currently working with regulators to explore how this technology could be safely integrated with existing services. We are also preparing a prototype for Welsh Ambulance Service & Welsh Blood Service sites.
We Need You!
We want to hear your views about how these technologies could be used in your area. This event offers everyone an opportunity to join a conversation about medical drones in Wales – no technical background needed.
You will have the chance to ask questions to NHS and local community representatives, independent university researchers, and industry specialists. You will also get to see the technology up close.
Light refreshments will be provided free of charge.
