About this Event
Community Corner is a service run by the NHS aiming to combat social isolation and help people to live well in their communities. Every Thursday at Violet Melchett we run activities to promote health and wellbeing.

Join us on the 30th May from 10:30am-12:30pm for our wellness morning: make your own salad bowl, run by a nutritionist, where you can build and enjoy a delicious and healthy lunch. This is a great chance to socialise with your local community, enjoy a healthy meal, learn about eating well on a budget, and focus on your wellbeing.
Why is eating fibre important? Fiber is a type of carbohydrate that your body can't digest on its own. It is important for digestion and provides benefits for your immunity, heart health, blood sugar control and mental health. Regular consumption of fibre is associated with lower rates of cardiovascular disease, cancer and obesity. It is also a key fuel for your gut microbiome. Some great sources of fibre include vegetables, beans, nuts and grains.
Come to this session and learn more about the importance of fibre and ways to incorporate more of it into your diet! This is a great chance to experiment with new, affordable and delicious plant foods.
We will provide you with an array of fibre-packed foods for you to assemble into nutritious and delicious salads. Tea and coffee will also be provided. After, we will sit together and tuck in!
Please notify us of any allergies or dietary needs (gluten, nuts, dairy, others) and we will acomodate for you!
