Experience the sights, sounds, and flavours of the Pacific at Wellington Pasifika Festival 2026 🌸🌴🥥 Come along to this free, whānau-friendly festival and join us to celebrate our unique Pacific communities. From art and language to performances and food, the Pasifika Festival is all about acknowledging the richness of our Pacific brothers and sisters.
📅Saturday 7 February 2026, at Waitangi Park, Wellington
⌚12pm-6pm for the main event. Come from 1:30am for the opening ceremony.
📍Waitangi Park, Wellington Waterfront
The 2026 event theme is ‘Arrival’, which will be represented through explorations of migration stories and is a celebration of and a welcome to the Pasifika communities who have made New Zealand their home. You can also view the carving has been taking shape since the 2024 festival and talk to artist Leo Semau about the artwork.
Plus... The popular Pasifika Cuisine Cook-Off competition is back for another year, with food stalls submitting their best dish for judging by a celebrity panel.
The festival will open with a blessing followed by stage performances from various Pacific Island groups. There will be food stalls, craft, and sponsor stalls, a Kids’ Zone, and Pacific Media Network 531pi FM and Āti Awa Toa radio activations.
You can also take part in a festival wide activation based on the card game ‘Lalaga’, designed by Torisse Lalau, which uses Pasifika wisdom (talanoa) to foster empathy and connection through sharing stories.
We’d like to thank the Pasifika Patrol who will be helping out on the day. Gather your friends and family for a fun day out–be transported to the Pacific Islands for the day! ❣️
