Wellington’s Jazz Festival is back, and Meow Nui is thrilled to host three extraordinary performances during this week of world-class music. Other Futures Big Band
**October 19 | 3:00 PM**
An ensemble like no other, Other Futures Big Band brings together 18 musicians under the direction of Daniel Hayles for a night of original and reimagined music. Featuring special guests Tyaan Singh (saxophone) and Jonathan Crayford (piano), this performance promises to merge the thrill of the showband era with contemporary twists. Expect both timeless swing and groundbreaking compositions from Aotearoa’s best.

Jonathan Crayford presents The Music of Mambo Macoco
**October 19 | 7:30 PM**
A tribute to New York’s iconic Afro-Cuban jazz outfit Mambo Macoco, led by the late Bobby Vidal, Jonathan Crayford revives the band’s dynamic sound. Joined by an exceptional Aotearoa-based lineup, including musicians like Miguel Fuentes and Lucien Johnson, this performance will channel the fiery spirit and rich heritage of Latin jazz.

Clear Path Ensemble | Lord Echo (DJ) | Benny Salvador
**October 19 | 10:00 PM**
Described as "Return To Forever and In A Silent Way updated and reinvigorated for the now,” Clear Path Ensemble is the creation of Wellington drummer, percussionist, and producer Cory Champion (Borrowed CS). Drawing inspiration from jazz-fusion giants like Chick Corea and Miles Davis, Champion’s exploratory sound blends jazz with ambient, house, and broken beat. He will be joined on stage by a stellar cast of local musicians, including Johnny Lawrence, Daniel Hayles, Louisa Williamson, and more. The evening will be bookended by DJ sets from Benny Salvador and Mike Fabulous (Lord Echo).
