About this Event
🌿 About Wellbeing Week
Wellbeing Week is a series of free, small-group retreats created to offer local people time, space, and support to rest, reconnect, and feel part of something shared.
Across the week, we’re holding tailored wellbeing spaces for different parts of our community, recognising that wellbeing is not one-size-fits-all. Each retreat is designed with care, accessibility, and nervous system regulation at its core, blending gentle movement, breath, mindfulness, and sound.
This week is about prevention, connection, and collective care. Creating spaces where people can slow down, feel supported, and reconnect with themselves and each other before the natural shift into spring.
You’re welcome to join one session or attend multiple across the week.
🌱 CARING HEARTS
A Sensory Wellbeing Retreat for SEN Children & Carers
A calm, inclusive space for children and carers to breathe, explore, and be together.
Open Hearts is a gently structured retreat for children with additional needs and their carers, offering a low-pressure environment where everyone is welcomed exactly as they are.
The session blends simple movement, grounding breath, creative and sensory activities, with flexibility throughout. Children are free to engage in ways that feel right for them, with alternatives always available.
What we’ll explore
This session is thoughtfully designed for children with additional needs and their carers, offering a calm, inclusive space where everyone can engage in ways that feel right for them. We’ll begin with gentle ice-breaker games using soft props, supporting introductions, emotional expression, and connection in a playful, pressure-free way.
The session then moves into a short, seated breathing activity to encourage calm and grounding, before transitioning into mindful creative play. Colouring, bubble play, and calming background music offer multiple options for participation, allowing children to choose how they engage. The session is flexible, nurturing, and responsive, prioritising emotional safety, regulation, and ease throughout.
Why this space exists
Many families struggle to find wellbeing spaces that truly accommodate different needs. Open Hearts creates a supportive environment where regulation, expression, and shared experience are prioritised over performance or outcomes.
What you can expect to take away
A sense of calm, connection, and shared presence. Carers often leave feeling more resourced, and children feeling more settled and seen.
Closing the week together
Wellbeing Week gently closes on Sunday with an optional community gathering at Bay20 (W10 6JG) from 14:00 – 15:30.
All retreat attendees are warmly invited to join, and are more than welcome to bring friends and family if they wish, to spend time together, connect, and share the atmosphere. This is an informal, social gathering with conversation, laughter, and a community meal in the café.
Bringing a "Dish from Home” to share is entirely optional. This might be something you love and enjoy making, something familiar you’d happily share with others, or something new that represents you, your culture, or your story. A small offering, made or chosen with care. If you do bring food, please include a simple ingredients list so everyone can navigate dietary needs and allergies with ease.
