About this Event
Come back to writing, without pressure, perfection, or knowing where to start.
Join Chirpy for a relaxed, welcoming taster session exploring creative writing as a way to slow down, reflect, and reconnect with your creativity.
This informal session offers an introduction to Well-Written, a six-week course designed to help you build confidence in your writing while developing a meaningful, sustainable creative practice which we will be running in September 2026.
Spaces are limited to keep the group small and supportive, so early booking is recommended. As a thank you for joining the taster, you’ll also receive 10% off the full six-week course if you decide to book within a week of the taster event.
You don’t need to have it all figured out before you begin. Just come along, try it out, and see where it might lead.
What to expect
This session is designed to be low-pressure, friendly, and accessible. No prior writing experience needed.
Together, we’ll explore:
· Short, guided writing exercises to spark ideas
· Simple techniques to bring your writing to life
· Time to write, reflect, and (optionally) share
Your ticket includes a glass of fizz (plus tea, coffee or soft drinks) and light snacks.

This session is for you if you:
· Feel curious about writing but aren’t sure where to start
· Want to reconnect with creativity in a relaxed way
· Enjoy reflective or mindful activities
· Are considering joining the full six-week course
Thinking about the full course?
This taster offers a small glimpse into the Well-Written experience. The full course provides a more structured journey, where you’ll:

· Become part of a supportive creative community
Suitable for anyone 18+
About the facilitator:
Jess is a Leeds-based writer and educator, and the founder of Plot and Purpose, a creative project exploring writing as a tool for reflection, creativity and wellbeing.
She holds an MA in Creative Writing and a PGCE in English, and has a background in content and community-led storytelling.
Creative writing became an important part of her own life during a period of challenge, helping her to process difficult experiences and make sense of uncertainty. A short story she wrote during this time went on to win a 2025 international literary prize on the theme of hope.
Through this journey, Jess developed a deep belief in writing as both a creative and reflective practice. She now creates supportive, thoughtfully structured spaces where people can explore their experiences, build confidence in their voice, and reconnect with storytelling in a meaningful way.
