About this Event
Ory from our Hot Works shop will introduce students to technology well over a century old: welding with stick electrodes, and cutting and welding with gas.
This will be an introductory course, pre-existing skill is not expected.
Students should wear close fitting clothing of natural fibers (including shoes) and bring hearing and basic eye protection. Welding hoods and gloves will be available for use.

Lecture: concepts and practice
Info: Students will receive a small text handout and lecture on the concepts and methods employed in the technologies to be used.
🕑: 06:30 PM - 07:00 PM
Demo:
Info: Instructor will demo, with some hands-on interaction, the setup and use of both technologies
🕑: 07:00 PM - 08:00 PM
Practice: hands on time
Info: Students will try their hands at setting up and using the techniques for the first time.
🕑: 08:00 PM - 09:00 PM
Practical: Fine tuning and practice
Info: After a short break, Students will return to the welders, can try using different equipment, and will fine tune with guidance in pursuit of good weld characteristics.
