About this Event
This FREE welding and fabrication taster session is running on Saturday 11th July 2026, 10am-1pm, at the Northumberland Skills Welding Centre at Port of Blyth.
It is ideal for young people who are completing their GCSEs this school year and are considering what's next when they leave school.
If becoming a welder is something you want to explore when you leave school, or if you've recently left school and you're looking for a new direction, come and give welding a go for free at our state-of-the-art welding centre!
Parent/Carer attendance:
It is really helpful if parents/carers can also attend the event with their young person as we give a lot of information about the purpose of the course, how the course is run and expectations. Parents/Carers can enjoy a free cuppa and ask our experienced team of lecturers about our school leaver courses, apprenticeships and future career opportunities across the welding and engineering industry, as well as taking a look around our state-of-the-art facilities.
Please note, you only need to book a place for each learner and not for the parents/carers.
Booking a place:
We are running three sessions at this event, so please pick the time that best suits you when you register. The sessions are:
Session 1:10am – 11am
Session 2: 11am - 12pm
Session 3: 12pm - 1pm
Please note that the event runs from 10am-1pm, but you only need to attend for your chosen time slot of either 10-11am, 11am-12pm or 12-1pm.
