Tuesday, April 14th at 6pm, $44/person
As the seasons turn and Spring begins to bloom, Persephone returns to Earth for the light half of the year, where she is also known as Kore (Maiden). Persephone is often considered a dark goddess, but she also possesses light aspects by splitting her year between the Underworld and the blossoming earth. This balance relates her more to humankind in many ways, and teaches us that both aspects should work together and enhance one another.
In November, we gathered to honor Persephone's descent and turn inward to work with our shadows. Too much of any working can burn out the spirit, so balance is the name of Persephone's game! Spring is the time to turn back outward, to an extent, and shed our light on the earth! While "light energy" is often associated with healing and service of others, these acts still reflect back on our own spirits. When our gardens, families, and communities are well cared for, we grow and are nurtured with them.
In this workshop, we will manifest our own healthy light aspects using organic seed papers planted in nursery pots. Honoring the spirit of Kore, these seeds will (hopefully) grow with us throughout the spring. They may also be planted in the earth once germinated. (Those who participated in November's ritual for Persephone may choose to bring their spell jars to plant.)
Participants do not need to have an established relationship with Persephone/Kore, only respect. Offerings to her are welcome!
Juniper Deadwick is a hedge witch with a passion for folklore and mythology. Her primary interests include herbs, household magic, animal allies, and ancestor/spirit work. She works with Persephone, often incorporating her mother Demeter and the crone, Baubo, as well as the Lithuanian forest goddess, Medeinė.
This class will take place in the Deadwick's Common Room. It begins at 6pm and will run for approximately one and a half hours. Please enter through the front of Deadwick's upon arrival, at 19 Sheafe St. and allow time for parking. Please call us at 603-319-6946 if you are running late.
