Becoming Visible: A Participatory Workshop Series on Marketing

Participants will:
- Share about your marketing efforts to date
- Receive feedback, ideas, and support from the group
- Build a clear, personalized action plan
Wednesday Workshop #2: Audience
This interactive workshop helps artists understand, identify, and connect with their audience in a meaningful and sustainable way. Through guided exercises, real-world examples, and group discussion, participants will explore how building an audience goes beyond numbers and becomes a tool for connection, visibility, and growth.

Opening & Icebreaker (30 min)
- Introductions
- Who do you think your audience is today?
- Who engages with your work and why?
Understanding Audience in Practice (15 min)
- What does “audience” really mean for artists?
- Examples of artists and creative communities building strong audiences
- Discussion: audience as community vs audience as numbers
Reflection Activity (30 min)
- Participants will define and refine their audience through guided prompts:
- Who is your work for?
- How do people discover your work?
- What emotions, ideas, or experiences do you want your audience to have?
Integration & Application (30 min)
- Where and how to reach your audience: platforms, spaces, and communities
Strategies to build engagement and long-term relationships
- Turning audience insights into actionable steps
Closing & Networking (15 min)
- Share reflections
- Open conversation and connection
