The SBA's 8(a) Business Development (BD) Program is a nine-year program created to assist firms owned and controlled by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals to strengthen their ability to compete effectively in the American economy. The 8(a) BD Program offers unique and valuable business assistance and the opportunity to compete and receive set-aside and sole-source contracts with the federal government.

About the Presenter
Desiree Albrecht is a Business Opportunity Specialist with the SBA Seattle District Office. Desiree has been with SBA since 2012 in various roles. Prior to joining SBA, Desiree worked in licensing for the Texas Board of Nursing. She is also a veteran having served in the Minnesota National Guard with a deployment to Iraq in 2004. She has a Bachelor’s of Business Administration in Human Resource Management from Texas A&M University.
