This hands on, creative class centers on connection, memory and the quiet comfort of making. Inspired by the concept behind prayer shawls, we’ll create objects of affection out of fabric, yarn, string, paper and ribbon. Using several large “go anywhere looms,” we’ll work as small groups. You may also choose to create your own on a circle board. The focus is not on the product, but on the soothing rhythm of weaving and the stories that surface and our hands work together. Gentle guidance and comfortable pacing allow for options for every skill level. Step-by-step instructions, choice of materials and reflective prompts about loved ones and friendships provided. You may bring a small personal fabric piece or other unwanted fibers to incorporate if you like. Leave knowing you’ve contributed to something that holds caring one strand at a time.
