Help us create a new and beautiful recycled woven fabric wall as a permanent installation in Ngutungka West Lakes.Over two sessions in the July school holidays, the community will come together to weave a wall of wonder around the Digital Lab space in the Ngutungka Community Centre and Library with Textile Artist Fiona Connell. We will be using found materials, diverting them from landfill to transform the dividing screens into an artwork using simple hand weaving techniques. No prior experience required!
Section by section over the coming months the community will craft a fourteen metre woven wall of fabric to create a beautiful screen dividing our Digital Lab from the rest of the Library.
Material will be provided but if you have an unwanted, clean piece of clothing that you would like to use please bring to the workshop and Fiona will assess its suitability.
Suitable for children 6 and over, parents to accompany children.
