A Winter Solstice evening of song and silence with Elizabeth Freeborn in the historic Quaker Meeting House at Come to Good.
About this Event

A unique coming together of silent quaker worship and the reflective angelic sounds of Elizabeth Freeborn.

Quaker worship is based around coming together in silent reflective worship, speaking only if moved to. Now, Elizabeth Freeborn turns her etheric voice and enchanting songs to weave with this deep silence, calling us to come together and reflect in the depths of the Winter Solstice time. Experience being held in a warm hearted community and communing with the spiritual realms opened by Elizabeth’s soothing and healing voice, calling on songs and languages from all around the globe as well as Kernewek (Cornish). This event is open to all, quakers and non quakers alike.

The historic Quaker meeting house has been in almost continuous use since it was built in 1710 and holds a uniquely peaceful atmosphere as well as a vibrant and giving community.

Throughout history, cultures have celebrated the Winter Solstice, the shortest day and longest night of the year with feasts and rituals, often featuring fire and light to symbolise the return of the sun. This time of darkness is rich in opportunity to go deeper into a sense of wholeness, both within the self and within community.

Doors will be open from 6:30pm and the one hour of concert music will commence from 7pm. There will be hot drinks and mince pies served afterwards and a chance to mingle/socialise. Please bring warm layers/blankets as it will be chilly on a December evening.

Tickets are on donation beginning from £3. Pre-purchase online is preferred but there will be some tickets available on the door. Proceeds are going towards Georgia's Voice charity and the upkeep of the Quaker Meeting House. Please give whatever feels right for you.

Car sharing is encouraged as parking is limited!
