Join us on Saturday, May 2nd at 2:00 pm at Full Circle Commons in Gardiner, NY to celebrate the release of local teacher and author Katie Grove’s book, Weaving Wild Baskets! Learn to make cordage with wild materials, hear behind-the-scenes stories from its creation, and get your copy signed. Whether you are a longtime student of Katie’s, a new basketmaker, or simply curious about basketry, you are warmly welcome.
What to expect:
2:00 – 3:00 Welcome and cordage making mini-workshop
Arrive, enjoy light refreshments, explore basketry projects from the book, and learn how to make cordage using basswood fiber with the help of Katie and her longtime basketry students.
3:00 – 3:45 Slideshow and Q&A
A reading from the book and a slideshow with stories and behind-the-scenes photos from its creation, followed by a Q&A.
3:45 – ? Book signing and visiting
Get your copy of Weaving Wild Baskets signed, browse the baskets, talk basketry, and enjoy the atmosphere at the beautiful Full Circle Commons. Bentons restaurant is located in the plaza if you would like to stay for an early dinner afterward.
