Weaving Nature’s Palette with Alina Rodriguez Rojo

This hands-on workshop introduces ages 13+ to basic weaving, inspired by nature. Participants use both individual and communal looms, learning the key concepts of warp and weft, basic loom setup, texture creation, and finishing, emphasizing weaving as functional craft and personal expression.

Through step-by-step guidance, participants practice core weaving skills, including warping a loom, executing a plain weave, and experimenting with texture using yarn, fabric strips, and natural materials. Each attendee completes a small woven piece suitable for display as a wall hanging or as a textile sample.

Creativity, experimentation, and mindfulness are at the heart of this workshop, which encourages participants to connect with fiber and materials through a hands-on, sensory process.

Instructor Background

Alina Rodriguez Rojo is a fiber artist and educator with over 35 years of experience teaching visual arts. Her practice explores identity, nature, and memory through textiles, natural dyes, and biomaterials. She is a founding member of the Fiber Artists Miami Association (FAMA) and an active community educator offering workshops and exhibitions throughout South Florida.
