DESCRIPTION
Join us for an immersive workshop on Filipino Martial Arts (Eskrima-Kali-Arnis), focusing on defence against weapons, including impact weapons and edged weapons.
Filipino Martial Arts are renowned for the mastery of impact and edged weapons, and this session will introduce participants to the core principles, movements, and strategies of Filipino weapons defence.
This hands-on workshop will explore the fundamentals of weaponry that have been passed down through generations of Filipino warriors.
Whether you're a beginner or experienced martial artist, this workshop offers valuable insights into close-quarter combat, blending practicality with tradition.
Come discover the efficiency of Filipino Martial Arts and integrate weapons training into your existing skillset!
This Workshop will be taught in two parts:
Part 1 - Defence Against Impact Weapons (Stick / Bat / Pole), and
Part 2 - Defence Against Edged Weapons (Knife)
This ‘Introduction to Weapons Defence’ Workshop will explore defensive skills against impact weapon and edged-weapon threats - a practical introduction to surviving and escaping a life-threatening encounter, with an emphasis on function over flash.
What you will learn at this Workshop:
✅ The realities of weapon attacks: psychology, patterns, and misconceptions

✅ Tactics for shielding and countering against impact weapon and edged-weapon attacks
✅ Skills for redirecting, controlling, and escaping from impact weapon and edged-weapon threats

✅ The use of improvised tools to defend against a weapon attack

✅ Scenario-based drills to build skills and improve response times

WHO THE WORKSHOP IS FOR:
This Workshop is suitable for beginners, martial artists, and martial arts instructors, who are interested in personal protection, concerned about knife attacks, and are keen to integrate weapons into their existing skillset in a fun, friendly, safe yet exciting training environment!
As weapons defence is a serious topic involving potentially life-threatening situations, we approach the material with respect and clarity - but we’ll also keep most of the session light-hearted and engaging. Our goal is to create a balanced, positive training environment that supports focused learning while keeping things enjoyable and accessible for everyone.
No prior experience required - just a willingness to learn!
