Author Biography
Timothy ‘StoneDancer’ Coleman
Community Leader | Non-Profit Executive | Education Advocate | Broadway Performer | Grammy-Nominated Songwriter

With over two decades of dedicated service to the Bronx community, Timothy ‘StoneDancer’ Coleman is a dynamic leader whose career spans public service, non-profit management, and the performing arts. Driven by a steadfast commitment to education, equity, and innovation, Timothy has empowered countless individuals and families to achieve their aspirations and transform their lives.

As the Family Leadership Coordinator for NYC Public Schools in the Mott Haven section of the South Bronx, Timothy supported 50 schools serving over 20,000 families. He spearheaded initiatives such as the My Brother’s Keeper Challenge Grant, a $2 million program that provided professional development for district leaders and fostered meaningful engagement opportunities for students and families. His workshops on entrepreneurship, job readiness, and purpose-driven training have helped break generational cycles of poverty, empowering parents to achieve their goals.

A trailblazer in digital education, Timothy designed and launched the original "Parent Academy," an online platform that connects parents with valuable resources to support their children's academic and social-emotional development while also advancing their own personal growth. Though later rebranded as "Parent University," the platform’s innovative framework, conceived by Timothy, has benefited thousands of families worldwide.

Timothy’s impact extends to the non-profit sector, where he has over 20 years of expertise in program creation and organizational leadership. As Executive Director of a Harlem-based visual arts agency, he increased the annual budget by 40%, enhanced operational efficiency, and expanded the organization’s reach. Through his leadership, he forged new partnerships, revitalized existing collaborations, and secured funding from city agencies, propelling the organization to new heights.

His creative programming has garnered over $10 million in funding, including the development of "My Passport to the World," which served more than 3,300 students as part of the Department of Education’s Summer Quest initiative. This program later inspired a citywide initiative benefiting countless students from kindergarten through fifth grade.

Timothy’s dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion is evident in every facet of his work. His participation in the Partnership for Afterschool Education (PASE) Executive Leadership Series and the NYC STEM Initiative demonstrates his commitment to bringing high-quality STEM and STEAM opportunities to underserved students. He also holds an Executive Leadership Certification from the Support Center for Non-Profit Management.

Before his remarkable career in public service and non-profit leadership, Timothy was an accomplished Broadway performer, starring as Benny in RENT and Jack in Jekyll and Hyde. As a Grammy-nominated songwriter in the Jazz/Funk category, he brought his creativity and passion to the forefront of the entertainment industry.

Timothy’s journey is a testament to visionary leadership, creative innovation, and an unwavering commitment to empowering communities. His multifaceted career reflects his belief in the transformative power of education, opportunity, and the arts.
