
About this Event
Naomi Smith (Chippewas of Nawash) guides this two-day workshop, Saturday October 25 & Sunday October 26 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily.
Create an embossed beaded poppy pin or pendant, while experiencing traditional teachings and an introduction to Indigenous raised beading techniques and working with deer hide. The 2025 poppy design may also include quill work.
All are welcome (recommended 15 years old and up). Comfort with hand sewing is an asset. Participants should bring a basic sewing kit, including small flat nose pliers, small scissors, thimble, and magnifier.
Lunch is not provided/included. Participants are welcome to bring a bagged lunch or pick up lunch in the area.
Advanced registration only. Limited to 20 participants. Six subsidized registrations are reserved for Indigenous participants.

The cost includes a $180 workshop fee, plus $58 materials fee, per person.
