About this Event
Join in a communal effort to highlight and celebrate the 200 words that are so powerful the current administration can't bear to see them.
We knew the draft-dodging, serial sexual abuser, convicted felon, morally corrupt man was lying when he proclaimed that he had the best words. Now he has banned many of them when it comes to government spending and research.
These word bans endanger lives. They negatively impact science, medical research, the climate, international trade, equity work of all kinds, human rights, and more.
Show up on the 23rd or sign up here to decorate a rock and I'll assign you a word.
Art supplies will be provided. It's up to you to furnish your rock, though. Your rock can be as small as a pebble, but should be no larger than what fits in the palm of your hand. The decorated rocks will be displayed in at least one pop-up art installation and I don't want to break from the weight of carrying them.
There are currently 200 banned words. We still have 150 to complete before the first installation at the end of the month! If you come to a community event, Scrappy Affirmations will provide permanent markers and paint pens to use, but you must provide your own rock.
This is a pay-what-you-can program. You don't even need to sign up. Just show up. This is a public event. No one will be turned away for financial reasons, but to be a sustainable program, it needs funding. If you don't bring a rock a limited number will be for sale for $5. $5? That's an outrageous amount for a rock! Exactly. Please bring your own. :)
