About this Event
A special day marking International Day of Maternal Health and Rights, and kicking off the Black Maternal Health week - April 11-18, led by dedicated doulas who tirelessly assist pregnant and new moms.

There will be two sessions.- one in the morning and one in afternoon, with breakfast and lunch served!
This will be a nourishing, joyful day to build community and knowledge and resources to help you and others avoid the devastating losses of Black and Brown women and/or babies in childbirth and during the first year after baby comes into the world.
Our focus will be:
- Maternal/child health and how to be well as opposed to current dire statistics and
projections – This is how you ‘be well’ during pregnancy and postpartum;
focusing on the individual solutions to leading causes of problems and poor
outcomes
- Power of choice and decision making – Informed consent, childbirth education
with emphasis on partner experience and participation (mental health, physical
activity, well-being before, during and after pregnancy)
- Interactive! Meet the Doulas
- Goodie bags and giveaways - free diapers, baby clothes and more
- Breakfast and lunch served
Come and learn how to stay well and nurture yourself and your babies.
Diapers/food and a great chance to build community with others, too. For new moms, postpartum depression is real and dangerous and av major reason behind high rates of Black maternal death.
Note: This event is for women who are pregnant or have babies under 1 year old. It is part of our Black Maternal Health program to help anyone at risk to have a healthy childbirth and baby!
It's also a great chance to meet other mothers, get access to resources and learn about our Thursday Mommy and Me get-togethers offering pilates, storytimes and our playspace.
What to expect:
You can sign up either for:
Morning 11am to 1 pm - Join us for breakfast at 10 am
Afternoon 3-5 pm - Join us for lunch at 1:30pm
After party for doulas - TBD
Nourishing food like soups and parfaits and our famous sweet potato brownies.

Free to anyone on Medicaid or in high need.

SPECIAL NOTE: We want everyone who wants to attend to have a chance. So, if you sign up here, you MUST contact us by Monday, April 6 by 5 pm to confirm attendance or we will take you OFF the list.
