On Friday May 1st and Saturday May 2nd, 2026, you are invited to a free, hope-filled gathering called We are the Watershed. The aim of the gathering is to celebrate nature, to express eco-grief, and to spur collective action toward revitalizing the health of Peskotomuhkatikuk – the homelands and waters of the Peskotomuhkati [Passamaquoddy] Peoples. Humans are deeply connected with nature, harms to nature have rippling effects throughout our communities, and restorative actions create benefits for nature and humans alike. We are the Watershed is a collective of environmental, arts, and Indigenous-led organizations working toward re-connecting humans with nature, to revitalizing the health of nature, waterways, estuaries, and the Bay in Peskotomuhkatikuk.
Join us in ceremony as we honour Mother Nature, mourn losses, and celebrate collective efforts to restore the health of our Watershed.
We are seeking input from creatives throughout Peskotomuhkatikuk (spanning the border) to add to a publication which will be sold by donation at the event, to raise funds for community-building efforts, public engagement, and continued restoration efforts. Entries can include written word, and/or visual arts of any kind. Must be submitted by April 1.
We are also seeking submissions of physical works for an exhibition that will be on display at EAC from May 1 to 15.
Schedule to be announced as the event approaches.
