Pollen Tribe & The Blackbird Collective presents:WE ARE THE WATER
Weekend Celebration for Spring Equinox & World Water Day
MARCH 20/21/22 - TOTNES CIVIC HALL
Raising funds for: Friends of the Dart
Join Pollen Tribe & Blackbird Collective for a family friendly water themed weekender event; with music, dance, spoken word and information sharing.
This is a fund raiser event for Friends of the Dart; a local not for profit organisation that are doing valuable work to protect our local river - The River Dart.
Read about their amazing work here:
https://www.friendsofthedart.org/
We have decided to create this event to support their mission. This event is to create awareness, and opportunities for networking, as well as to help raise money for doing vital water testing. The overall aim is to hold the organisations polluting the water responsible, and to align with a vision of a world where we stop the pollution of our waterways, on a global scale. Locally, we can create a protected area of nature that can be enjoyed, and bathed in safely by the thousands of people that love the river so much.
Water is literally the source of life - we must protect and respect it, for the sake of our present and future generations.
Join us for a weekend of water themed activities; both fun & educational!

After selling out the Great Hall at Dartington on their debut album gig with Los Costureros, George and Elio decided to create a new project together inspired by travels to Morocco and Senegal.
A fusion of Funk, Cuban, Brazilian, Mali, Ghanian & Moroccon music: WOWJOYWOW takes you on a journey of original compositions “from heartneat to heartbeat” celebrating the joy of life with trance-inducing kora & guitar melodies, four part vocal harmonies, solid bass lines, and irresisible rhythms.
AMBA LUCY CHENERY - ‘Bodies of Water: Every Tear a Small Blue’ — dance, poetry & ritual theatre inspired by
water, Bidwell Brook & the human journey
BIO:
Ambă Lucy Chenery is a multidisciplinary artist based in Devon exploring the confluence
of body, land and mystery through movement, performance, sound, writing, poetry and
visual art.
Her practice is grounded in an intimate relationship with the body as a living instrument,
meeting place and vessel of perception. Through deep listening and sensorial inquiry, she
engages with place, the elemental and the unseen, cultivating an embodied re-membering of
how it is to be human within the web of life. Improvisation, animism and a commitment to
living the seasons of decay and renewal shape her practice.
‘Bodies of Water: Every Tear a Small Blue’ is an evolving body of work created in close
dialogue with Bidwell Brook, River Dart, Dartington Spring, the human body and the
primordial ocean, giving expression to water as memory, mirror and matter.
This particular performance—a moment of ripening in the creative process—unfolds as a
listening: a weaving of dance, poetry and ritual theatre inviting a shared encounter with the
fluid resonance rippling through land, psyche and soma; an embryonic journey into the
overlapping waters of the personal, collective and universal.
ALICE TO - Dance Performance
Multidisciplanary artist Alice To weaves a dynamic tapestry across the mediums of visual art, poetry, and dance performance. As a mixed-race Chinese woman, her work explores the intricacies of identity and ancestral rememberance. Informed by her Butoh practice (a Japanese theatre & dance form), Alice is interested in communing with the underworld, intending to draw light & reflection from her shadow side. Her inspiration over the past year has revolved around the cycles of life/death/life; assesing the nature of compost & decay; the place from which all life is born.
SELENA MARA - Sacred Waters
Local musician Selena Mara will close the weekend with her song 'Sacred Waters' which she wrote to honour and bless the water; to pray for it, and to pour our love into it. She would love it if people could sing along.
Refreshments, Savoury Snacks, Cacao, Teas, & Treats served downstairs in the bar area: hosted by Radeks Chocolate
