Mexico’s history—from Indigenous civilizations and European colonization to independence and revolution—has been marked by profound social change. Throughout these transformations, artists have played a vital role in shaping and reflecting the nation’s cultural identity. This workshop explores Mexican art within its social and economic context, focusing on why artists turned to public murals, print media, and traditional crafts as powerful forms of communication. Each day centres on a key movement and selected artists, using their work to examine how art responded to the social, political, and economic conditions of its time.
